I believe and I was told that dreams help you store important memories and things you’ve learned, and help you to filter out all of the rubbish stuff that you don’t need to remember. Kind of like a computer getting rid of junk so it doesn’t fill up the memory. Research has actually shown that sleep helps store memories. But in my psychology A-Level I learnt about other theories regarding why we dream. Sigmund Freud is probably the most famous and most interesting to read and learn about. Basically he believed that dreams are unconscious desires, thoughts, and motivations that we bury deep in our mind, dreaming is a way for them to escape!
