Again super tough question! From a chemical perspective I think we are very close to curing some of the more difficult diseases. Recently we have cured HIV in 2 cases across the world. But they way this was done was not by HIV drugs but for a treatment for cancer.
I think the next major step is the discovery of new classes of anti-biotics
I think genome editing will become a huge deal in the future, and will revolutionize the medical industry. Genome editing is using tools to manipulate the DNA, either fixing a defective gene or removing it etc to make the cell function as normal.
