There’s a lot of different ways to do this.

My favorite is a Dyson Sphere which you can read about here:
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dyson_sphere

In more practical terms we can simply cover more of the world in solar panels and the like and we can also increase their efficiency.

‘Photo-Voltaic Cell’ technology is one of the upcoming research areas for solar panels which will hopefully be able to make them even better so that an individual panel can convert more of the sunlight that reaches it into useful energy.

We need to work on designing and producing better solar power cells to capture more energy from the sun. But they need to be affordable and reliable so that more of the worlds population can use them!

Scientists are developing new material that captures more of the suns energy as we speak! Take a look at this website: https://theconversation.com/getting-more-energy-from-the-sun-how-to-make-better-solar-cells-54090

We are getting better and better at designing solar panels and the photovoltaic cells that make them up. Advancements will makes them more efficient but importantly they also need to be cost effective so they can be widely used. Making them durable would also mean that they could be placed in remote locations (e.g. deserts) where there is limited population to give lots of solar energy
